Missions

Whether it’s serving right here on our campus, loving our local community, or partnering with ministries worldwide, we are committed to being the hands and feet of Jesus.

DARE to Care Disaster Relief

The D.A.R.E. (Disaster Assistance and Recovery Effort) mission teams at RUMC provide faith-oriented, people-first, assistance to those in short- and long-term needs suffering from natural disasters of all types. No matter what your skills and talents are, your contributions to showing and sharing God’s love for His people are the only requirements. Join a D.A.R.E. mission team either locally or regionally in the southeast, no experience necessary, just a heart and compassion for people and a willingness to help those in need recover.

Contact: Leonard Scarboro, whofixedtheroof@gmail.com

Giving Garden

The mission of RUMC's Giving Garden is to plant seeds of change, teach the church and surrounding community how to grow produce; provide food for those in need and for the church kitchen; and provide a worship space. Located on the south end of the RUMC campus, the Garden relies on volunteers to prepare, plant, maintain, and harvest crops.

For more information, contact Jenny Collins at jennyocollins@gmail.com.

Mighty Mentes

The Mighty Mentes after-school program tutors and mentors at-risk Latino students at Vickery Mill Elementary School, located on Hwy. 9 in Roswell, with homework, test prep, reading and math skills.

No teaching experience is required. Volunteers simply need to have a love for children and a desire to make a difference. The program runs from September to May at VMES on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-4:30 p.m. For information and to volunteer, contact Gilma Cantu at gcantu@rumc.com or 404.447.0941.

MUST Neighborhood Pantry

The MUST Neighborhood Pantry on Mimosa is a community program occurring on the 1st Monday of each month that provides fresh, healthy foods to children and families in Roswell and surrounding areas who find themselves facing food insecurity.

We serve over 200 families each with this ministry, providing chicken, beef, cheese, milk, butter, tortillas, fresh produce from the RUMC Giving Garden, and more. We also provide items that cannot be purchased with food stamps, as well as staples that are hard to find in most community food banks.

Each month, we need donations of laundry detergent (liquid, larger size) and feminine hygiene items (pads more popular than tampons)

We will collect on the Mondays of the Pantry from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Roswell UMC campus. (Schedule is subject to change due to holidays or inclement weather.)

Make a monetary donation. If you would like to donate online, GIVE HERE by selecting "MUST Neighborhood Pantry" in the drop-down menu.

Volunteer. Want to volunteer in-person? E-mail Scotty Brewington scotty@marketjet.com or Mary Ann Bender, mabender2@gmail.com for more information.

Access to My Neighbor's Pantry is free and available to any families in need in our community. In need of food? https://www.tfaforms.com/4978350
