Teri Simmons, LPC
Teri Simmons, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of GA and holds a telehealth license in South Carolina. In addition, she is a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Georgia. She is an active member of LPCA of GA.
Teri began her career in a residential addiction treatment center and has held several positions in residential treatment including at a therapeutic boarding school. Her other work includes adult and adolescent partial and intensive outpatient programs.
Teri works through Magnolia Tree Counseling Services where she provides individual and family sessions to adolescents and adults. She is interested in providing a group at the counseling center on a weekly basis. Topic is TBD.
Teri’s theoretical orientation is primarily based on cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused interventions, and a 12 step model of addiction. She also uses expressive arts to help clients work through their feelings and thoughts when conversation reaches a “stuck” point and talk therapy is not enough.
Specialty topics include: anxiety, depression, and life transitions. The goal is to figure out the patterns and establish healthy coping skills. Overall wellness is important and relaxation techniques and mindfulness skills are also incorporated throughout the sessions.
Teri graduated from Kutztown University in PA with a degree in Psychology and went on to receive her Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology. Teri remains active in the community through volunteering at her daughters school.
