Classes for Seniors
Bereans is a large, welcoming class that eagerly studies Scripture, supports mission work, and builds strong community through engaging teaching, small groups, and social fellowship.

BYKOTA is a smaller, close-knit class rooted in Ephesians 4:32, where members grow in faith through thoughtful Bible study, meaningful discussion, and a shared commitment to kindness and community. The name for the class comes from"Be ye kind one to one another" and is pronounced by-KO-tah.

This class is a loving, praying fellowship of people- both singles and couples- who truly care about each other that eagerly welcomes new people as well as appreciate their longtime members. Meeting since 1972, the class name reflects interest in friendly and thoughtful discussions. A variety of topics from the Bible to all types of current issues, taught by classmates, ministers, subject matter experts, and enthusiasts, are included.

Class: 100+ members (singles and couples), mostly 70+ years old
Description: Our program committee plans class sessions with a balance of Bible teaching, missions, and life enrichment subjects. We are active in church service, mission outreach, and membership care. Social activities include small group dinners, an annual retreat, and seasonal parties. Our single women enjoy regularly meeting together. Within the class there are many covenant groups that meet weekly for Bible study and encouragement.

The Discovery class was established in 1981 to discover what God’s Word says and means. We are singles and married couples who work as well as who are retired. We blend our life experiences as part of our discovery process as we participate in interesting lesson presentations from a variety of experienced teachers. We serve as a small community ready to celebrate each other’s victories and support someone who faces challenges.

Genesis is welcoming, discussion-based class of mostly grandparents who are new to RUMC, growing together in faith through shared Bible study, guided conversation, and meaningful community. The class name was chosen to reflect our beginning in our new faith community and to emphasize God’s creative work in beginnings. We use a class facilitator who shares the lesson background and guides our discussion.

We live up to our name, Rejoice. Stop by any Sunday morning and you’ll hear a talkative, positive group who laugh a lot. We have existed since 1990 and are a diverse group who enjoys learning from each other in lively class discussions. Using a teaching team of five members from the class, we rotate through studies, usually by DVD presentations. Recent studies have included lessons from Max Lucado, Susan Robb, Andy Stanley, and N. T. Wright. We care for each other through prayer, meals, and plan to re-instate getting together in various homes soon. Come Rejoice with us!

The Remnant is a cross-generational group which desires to support each other as we seek to obey Christ in all areas of our lives. Our goal is to challenge each other to grow a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. We use series, videos, and streamed presentations leaving plenty of time for meaningful conversations. In many ways we are people in transition and want to be the remnant in our culture with a strong witness for Christ.

Seekers is a close-knit, caring class where seniors grow in faith through Bible-based teaching, prayer, and fellowship while enjoying life together in their golden years.

Single Friends of Faith is an active, welcoming class of singles who grow in faith through engaging Bible study, shared fellowship, and service together in both church and community outreach.

The class serves and supports both married and single women who find themselves single on Sundays. The class has 10-15 active members. A typical class has 10-15 minutes of fellowship, a 10-20 video presentation on a Biblical topic, or a book study that can span 4-6 Sundays, followed by class discussion. Adam Hamilton, Andy Stanley, and Max Lucado studies are frequently used. Currently, there are three teachers/facilitators from the class, and the goal is to have a guest speaker once a month. Women of Faith supports the Women’s Shelter in Atlanta with a winter and spring event where we help serve a meal and give a tote bag full of much-needed seasonal items like umbrellas or scarves. We invite you to join us.
Classes for Parents
Anchored (formerly God’s Gardeners) is a welcoming class of parents focused on growing in faith, strengthening families and marriages, and supporting one another through shared life, study, and fellowship. Parents of preschool and elementary kids—join our welcoming, down-to-earth community! Classmates attend all three worship services, and love sitting near one another! Life’s better together.

We welcome all, but our class generally consists of young families (newborn to Pre-K children) and younger couples without children. We aim to nurture a discussion based Sunday School class focusing on our members' current season of life. Through lesson series diving into scriptures, life application studies, and social events outside of the Sunday school hour, we support each other's growing faith and families. New Crossings is a group for nearly or newly empty nesters—married or single— who are coming together to study God’s Word and navigate this new season of life.
Through meaningful Bible study, honest conversation, and fellowship, we’ll explore everything from finding new purpose to navigating changing relationships and the opportunities that come with this new chapter.
