Recreation Ministry @ RUMC

Romans 12:1-2 reminds us to, “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and pleasing to God. This is your appropriate priestly service.” We believe this call to holy living is an offering of our whole selves, mind, heart, and body. At RUMC, we offer a number of opportunities to grow in your faith through bible studies and small groups as well as opportunities to serve God and the world through outreach and mission. The final piece of holy living invites us to offer our bodies to God so that God may transform us inside and out.

We hope you will join us for our new offerings as we seek to honor our bodies through health and fitness. These classes are designed to awaken and rejuvenate our bodies, inviting us all to be healthier and serve God with our whole selves.

Mondays:

9:45 – 10:45 a.m. – Power 20

This class offers a little bit of everything – cardio, weights, core, and flexibility training. Divided into 20 minute segments, you will get a full body workout with variety each week. Please bring an exercise band or set of 5-10 lbs weights and a mat or towel.

6:30 – 7:30 p.m. – Country Heat

Love country music? Love to dance? Then put them together in one totally fun class! This is truly the dance workout anyone can do because the moves are so simple to learn—and teach. You just turn on the hottest country music, turn up the heat, and move two steps to the beat.

Tuesdays:

9:45 – 10:45 a.m. – TurboKick

Turbo Kick LIVE combines traditional kickboxing moves with high-intensity interval training (HIIT) for an unbelievable calorie burn. You’ll have a blast getting into knockout shape—learning hard-hitting combos and edgy dance moves while torching fat and carving lean, sexy muscle in the most empowering class you’ve ever taken!

6:30 – 7:30 p.m. – Barre Class

Barre is a low-impact workout and can be done by women of all shapes, sizes, and ages. As long as you can hold on to the ballet barre, you can do this workout! No dancing experience is required. *Bring a yoga mat.

Wednesdays:

9:45 – 10:45 a.m. – PiYo

PiYo combines the muscle sculpting moves of pilates with the flexibility moves of yoga and adds in nonstop, fluid movement set to some amazing music. Bring your yoga mat and get ready to sweat! *Bring a yoga mat.

Thursdays:

9:45 – 10:45 a.m. – Zumba

Take the “work” out of workout with Zumba classes! With a mix of low-intensity and high-intensity moves you’ll get an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you’ll see why Zumba classes are often called exercise in disguise. Super effective? Check. Super fun? Check and check. Modifications will be taught for all fitness levels.

Fridays:

9:45 – 10:45 a.m. – Power 20

11 a.m. – Noon. – Gold 20
This class offers the same variety as Power 20 but a slower pace with less intensity and strain on the joints. Please bring an exercise band or set of light weights and a mat or towel.

 

Classes meet in the gym of the Dodson Center. Childcare is available on the second floor of the Chapel Building in Kidz Zone.

Punch cards are available for purchase before and after class.  Cost is $25 for 10 classes. Come try your first class for free!
