Michael grew up in Monroe, LA and has also lived in Slidell, LA (New Orleans), St. Louis, MO, and Woodstock, GA. Michael has spent his entire life in the UMC and has a great passion for helping people better understand that worship is more than a one-hour experience on a Sunday morning; worship is a lifestyle.
He received a Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Masters of Music in Conducting from the University of New Orleans, Masters of Theological Studies from Asbury Theological Seminary (Wilmore, KY), Post-Grad studies in Conducting at Westminster Choir College (Princeton, NJ) and Eastman School of Music (Rochester, NY), and a Doctorate of Worship Studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies (Jacksonville, FL).
Michael is married to Katie (who grew up at RUMC), and they have three children: Allie (9 years old and in the fourth grade), Aubrey (2 and a half years old), and Carson (11 months old). They greatly value family time and enjoy watching movies, eating ice cream, and traveling. Being from Louisiana, Michael is an LSU fan (although he has been known to root for Georgia occasionally as well since he married a Georgia girl) and enjoys major league baseball - especially the Braves and Cubs.
Roswell has a rich tradition of excellence in music and worship no matter the style. Michael is excited to step into the incredible ministry of Worship Arts as together we discern the exciting future that God has in store for RUMC and the greater community of Roswell and beyond.
Michael's Life Verse: "He (Christ) must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:30)
