“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
Our church supports missionaries who work with people all over the world. Mission trips are a way for us to directly impact God’s work and meet the people we support. Each mission trip is unique based on the destination, goals and the participants.
Upcoming Mission Trips
Honduras – April 20 – 27, July 13 – 20 – (Both are open)
RUMC has partnered with Lunches for Learning, Inc., to “adopt” the Manuel Bonilla Elementary School in the remote mountain community of Las Tablas in southern Honduras. This trip will build upon our previous trips in 2015 by continuing to strengthen relationships with key local church and community leaders. Our hope is to build a long term relationship with this community and help them lift themselves out of oppressive poverty while developing their spiritual health. On this trip we will conduct an eyeglass screening project, provide basic health information, conduct an oral hygiene program, improve some structural elements within the infrastructure of the school, offer VBS to the children, and continue to share the love of Christ with the children and parents. This is a great opportunity for first-time mission trip participants. Click here for more information about the trip or contact Craig Simons – firstname.lastname@example.org, 404-641-7319.
Peru – June 3 – 11, 2017 (Open)
Our 2017 mission trip to Peru will again work with our long-term missionary partners, Arthur and Mary-Alice Ivey, to host a medical clinic for four days. While we do need medical professionals, we also need many more “regulars” to assist with other aspects of the clinic such as assisting with the intake and waiting area, keeping restless children occupied, and filling prescriptions. The trip will conclude with some free time in Lima at the end. This trip will be less strenuous than our usual Peru mission trips to the jungle. For more information, contact John Pearson, email@example.com, 770-993-9232.
Ecuador – TBD 2017
Work side-by-side with missionaries Sharon and Graham Nichols as they minister to their community. The team will encourage and pray with the congregation, lead children’s Bible stories and crafts, handle simple constructions projects at the church, serve food to the hungry in the community, and whatever else God (and the Nichols) leads them to do. This is a great opportunity for mission trip first-timers and families. Click here for more information or contact Bill White, firstname.lastname@example.org, 678-294-6916.
