‘Successfully Parenting Your Adult Children’

Presented by Author Ron Greer, Th.M.

Wednesday, Nov. 7 • RUMC Chapel

“How can I be supportive without being intrusive?” “How can I be caring without enabling dependency?” Many parents struggle with these and other issues as their sons and daughters move into young adulthood. Roles change; old methods are no longer appropriate.

Ron Greer, Th.M., author of “Now That They Are Grown” and a pastoral counselor at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, will address these and related issues on Wednesday, Nov. 7,  at 6:30 p.m. in the Roswell United Methodist Church Chapel.

The transition into parenting adult children is an area Dr. Greer explains in his book. “Some parents flinch at the phrase of ‘letting go,’ since it implies less of a relationship. But it isn’t. Though there is much less face-to-face time together, this is not the end of a relationship but the beginning of a new one. With a healthy, mutual respect, parents and their adult daughters and sons can transition into being the best of friends.”

Ron will sell and sign his books in the parlor before and after the event; light refreshments will be served after his presentation.

The public is invited to this free event; reservations are not required. Join us for our weekly RUMC fellowship dinner, available 4:45 - 6:30 p.m., the evening of the event; see www.rumc.com/WNO for the menu and prices.
